To ensure your installation goes off without a hitch, you need to have the right electrical setup in place before your delivery date.  The exact power supply required will depend entirely on your chosen heater, control system, and your property’s existing electrics. Crucially, traditional electric sauna heaters demand a professionally installed, dedicated fixed line. They cannot simply be plugged into a standard 13A socket or run off an extension lead. Here is everything you need to know to get your space safely powered and ready to go. Before you book your electrician Ask Take Wellness to confirm the heater make, full model code, rated power and control system supplied with your sauna.  Send the matching UK or European installation manual to your electrician. Product names such as 6, 8 or 10 are model labels and do not always equal the exact kW rating. Ask your electrician to check the available single phase or three phase supply and capacity for the sauna alongside other household equipment. Agree the cable route, connection point, isolation arrangement and who will carry out the final connection before installation day. Include lighting and any additional electrical equipment in the plan. What your electrician needs to arrange The electrician must select the circuit protection, cable size and type, earthing and isolation for the actual installation. Cable length, installation method, insulation, ambient temperature, voltage drop and outdoor exposure all affect the design. A heater connection cable listed in a manual is not automatically the right cable for the full run from your consumer unit. Wiring near the heater must meet the temperature requirements in its installation manual. Controllers, sensors and any door contact must be positioned and connected as specified. Required clearances and ventilation must also be maintained. RCD and RCBO arrangements require particular care with sauna installations. Your electrician must follow the applicable wiring requirements and manufacturer instructions for the whole installation. Do not remove or bypass protection to stop a circuit tripping. Harvia and HUUM heater reference Figures are manufacturer published fuse ratings, not calculated running currents. Do not substitute a different breaker rating solely because the published fuse size is unfamiliar. HUUM DROP 9 needs a version check: the Take Wellness listing describes 9 kW, while the current HUUM European table gives 8.5 kW under the DROP 9 model name. Confirm the data plate and matching manual before electrical work is specified. The table above does not establish the requirements for every earlier version. Do I need three phase electricity? Not for every heater. Several models support a suitable single phase supply, but the HUUM HIVE 12 is specified with a 400 V three phase supply in the current European data. Confirm supply availability before committing to this heater. Tylö heater reference The current website lists Sense Elite, Sense Combi Elite, Crown Elite and Crown Combi Elite families. The table covers the 6, 8 and 10 versions. It records the amperage stated in the European installation manuals, not a prescribed UK circuit breaker rating. Some product listings use rounded 6 kW or 10 kW descriptions. In particular, the current Crown manuals show 10.8 kW, whereas Sense manuals show 10.5 kW for the larger versions.
